Juno Beach

Juno or Juno Beach was one of five sectors that the allied forces where goin to attack on D-Day. The 3rd Canadian infantry division was responsible for taking over Juno. We were supposed to capture the german airfied which we did. The 3rd Canadian Division's D-Day objectives were to capture Carpiquet Airfield and reach the French railway line by nightfall. The Canadiand were very effective in D-Day because they were the only section to achieve there objectives in the first day. Around 350 dead and 570 wounded but these soilders that lost there lives that day will not be forgotten because without the D-Day would not have been a success
and we would not be the country we are today.
The Holocaust

the holocaust was a horible event where the Nazi's killed millions of jewish people. It all started in 1933 when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi's came to power. They thought that the german race was supirior and that the jews where a alien threat and should be exterminated. I wasn't only jews that the Nazi's were killing. They also thought that homosexuals, gypsies, and disabled people shouldn't live because they had different believes than the Nazi's. Over all around six million jews and around five hundred thousand other people died. These people were killed in the largest genocide in human history.

WHAT WOMEN DID WHILE MEN WHERE AT WAR

This is a photo of Rosie the riveter.  Rosie the riveter is a cultural icon for the U.S., representing the American women who worked in factories during World War II, many of who produced weapons and war supplies. These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who were in the war. Rosie the Riveter is commonly used as a symbol of feminism and women's economic power. This poster was firstly made to advertise that women can now work in help of the war effort in making weapons and war suplies. Women had to do this to make sure the allied forces get the suplies they need to win aythe war. Theya also had to make money for themselves and sometimes there children. This allowed then to support themselves finacially.

                      Beginning Of World War 2

The world war is generally said to have begun on 1 September, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Germany and after declarations of war on Germany by France and Britain to retaliate the attach that Germany maid on Poland. This eventualy formed two opposing military forces called the allies which was made up of the British Common Wealth, the Solviet Union and Amarica, also known as the "Big Three" and the Axis which contained Germany, Italy and Japan. People think the appeasement caused the war. appeasemant is when you give your countries power to anouthr country (in this case Germany) that you would be peasefull and woudn't go to war with them. This backfired and Germany still attacked to take total controle of other countries. I think that these conrties are foolish. they shouyld have never given Hilter that much power and if they never did appeasement the second world war might have never happened.

Vimy Ridge

Vimy Ridge one of the greatest battles of Canadian history. People say that without the battle of Vimy Ridge Canada might not be an independent country today. The battle took place at Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France, during the First World War. The battle was between the Canadian Corp which had four divisions and they where against the Germans which had three divisions. The battle took place to try and capture the German high ground so that if allied forces tried to advance they wouldn't be ambushed. Other allied forces tried to take the german high ground but failed. The Canadians tried and succeded because they used special military tatics invented by Sir Edwin Alderson. His stratigies were to shell the enimies fearcly and advance. and his other most succesful strategy was to dig under ground to advance to the emimies."The battle was the first occasion when all four divisions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force participated in a battle together and thus became a Canadian nationalistic symbol of achievement and sacrifice"  (wikipedia). This is really important because this is showing how other countries now see the strength and independence Canada has and they now see us as an independent country. The image of national unity and achievement is what initially gave the battle importance to Canada.

Sir John Alexander Macdonald, was the first Prime Minister of Canada. The dominant figure of the Canadian Confederation. He had a political career which spanned almost half a century. Macdonald served 19 years as the first Canadian Prime Minister. Macdonald was designated as the first Prime Minister of the new nation, and served in that capacity for most of the remainder of his life, losing office for five years in the 1870s over the Pacific Scandal. After regaining his position, he saw the railroad through to completion in 1885. Now there is transportation and freight conveyance that helped unite Canada as one nation. Macdonald is credited with creating a Canadian Confederation despite many obstacles, and expanding what was a relatively small colony to cover the northern half of North America. By the time of his death in 1891, Canada had secured most of the territory it occupies today. Without this man Canada wouldn't be the nation it is today. We wouldnt have Conferderation and most likely we wouldn't be a independent nation.
