The Canadians did not necessarily fail the first time because they were under British command and they were sent orders, it wasn't the Canadians choice to fight for the other British and French tactics. Yes, this battle was worth losing 3,000 men because it gained Canada more respect, although 3,000 is a large amount of loss, it was worth it because the Canadians took ownership over this victory, and reward comes after a sacrifice.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963043125879677408.post-7688778305130685842013-04-16T18:28:35.309-07:002013-04-16T18:28:35.309-07:00Yes we could've done more preparations, the Di...Yes we could've done more preparations, the Dieppe Raid was not very successful because even though we learned the German's defence skills, we should've planned better. For example, our militaries knew that they were going to get off on a beach, why did they not test if the tanks work on beaches? Anyways, I strongly belief that the Dieppe Raid was a disaster, because you can't say that is was successful without saying, "well, we learned this from the Dieppe raid", because by saying that, you're supporting the fact that Dieppe was a disaster although we have learned from it. With all this being said, yes I think we could've put more effort into planning for the Dieppe Raid.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963043125879677408.post-35484198285264242922013-04-16T18:26:20.802-07:002013-04-16T18:26:20.802-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963043125879677408.post-5366035132973188812013-04-11T07:49:27.493-07:002013-04-11T07:49:27.493-07:00Mel, great video. I wonder if Canada should have put the same effort into planning Dieppe as they did in planning Vimy Ridge.

You have provided a solid interpretation of the battle.Sarah Lehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12888625789568300137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963043125879677408.post-62559811434503112152013-04-10T08:08:46.764-07:002013-04-10T08:08:46.764-07:00Do you think this battle was worth losing all 3000...Do you think this battle was worth losing all 3000 men? And Why do you think that Canada failed the first time but succeeded the second, was it because of learning from their mistakes, and being more prepared?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
